Greg Pierce founded Texas-based Agile Tortoise in 2006. In recent years, he has focused developing independent iOS apps such as Drafts, Phraseology and Terminology. He is the author of the x-callback-url spec and has been a leader in pushing the boundaries of automation on iOS.
iOS is not the most hospitable place for apps which seek to reach out of the cold and lonely confines of the sandbox. With the introduction of App Extensions in iOS 8, the future is looking brighter for apps that want to work together. In this session, we'll look at various strategies for sharing data and providing services which work across apps—while still being a good iOS citizen. We'll look at pros, cons, capabilities and limitations of approaches including: Today widgets, Action & Share Extensions, URL schemes, Document Interaction and Providers, App groups, Cloudkit, third party services like Dropbox, and more.
